Passacaglia in C minor

A contemporary neoclassical piano passacaglia in C minor, composed for attentive listening and a sense of continuous movement. Original solo piano composition built on a recurring bass pattern inspired by the traditional passacaglia form, with a structured yet evolving musical flow, composed and performed by Giovanni Mattalia. The piece is titled “La Passacaglia e la Farfalla”. The butterfly is not intended as a decorative image, but as a symbol of transformation and continuity within change. The music is accompanied by the watercolor painting “The Butterfly” by Silvia Bonafede. Both the composition and the artwork are dedicated to our nephew Vittorio, a wonderful child on the autism spectrum.
